Rx For Just About Everything!
Are you the type of person that calls the doctor for every little ache or cough? I know that feeling of hearing from the doctor can be reassuring, but it's not always needed. Going for a walk around the block or taking the kids to the park can be great ways to bond and very beneficial for our mental and physical well-being. There are studies that have shown the correlation between a prescription of time in nature and improved health in individuals. A dose of the great outdoors can aid in lowered blood pressure, lowered depression and anxiety, pain reduction, and more! Another useful Rx is simply standing outside on the bare ground for 3-5 minutes. This is called earthing. Earthing is to sync the body to the natural rhythms of the earth. Touching the ground with your bare feet or body allows the electrons to flow into you. Can you believe this has been happening to us forever and we didn't even know it!
In some countries, they are issuing "nature prescriptions" as an official health-boosting complement over traditional medical care (Diddy, 2023). As far as socioeconomic factors go, there is usually some type of park, greenery, or patch of dirt that is nearby every neighborhood. The MOST important factor in this case is EDUCATION of the topic to people of all kinds. We want this for all people! Thanks to organizations such as Park Rx America and Cornell University, there is action taking place in the world to educate and provide outdoor time for students. Together, one person, one group at a time, we can spread the Good TEA of earthing and improving ourselves mentally and physically by doing something so simple, spending some time outdoors.
